Terms and Conditions
Last updated: May 2026
1. Acceptance of Terms
These Terms and Conditions govern your use of the Biz Nation platform ("Biz Nation", "we", "us", "our", or "the Service"), operated by Born Bilingual Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 11543955).
By accessing or using the website, whether as a visitor, registered user, or business listing owner, you confirm that you accept these Terms and agree to comply with them. If you do not agree, you must not use the website.
We may update these Terms from time to time. Where changes are material, we will provide at least 14 days' notice by email to registered users before those changes take effect. Continued use of the Service following that notice period constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
2. About the Service
Biz Nation is a platform that enables users to discover independent businesses based on category, language, and cultural context.
We act as an intermediary platform. We do not:
- provide the services listed on the platform;
- act as an agent for listed businesses; or
- guarantee the accuracy, quality, or outcome of any services.
- All interactions and transactions are solely between users and the businesses they choose to engage with.
3. Access to the Website
We aim to ensure that the website is available at all times. However, we do not guarantee uninterrupted access and may suspend, withdraw, or restrict availability where reasonably necessary, including for maintenance, security, or operational reasons. We are not liable if the website is unavailable for any period.
4. Acceptable Use
You agree to use the website only for lawful purposes. You must not:
- use the platform in any way that breaches applicable laws or regulations;
- upload or promote unlawful, harmful, misleading, or discriminatory content;
- misuse data, including extracting or harvesting information for marketing or commercial purposes;
- attempt to gain unauthorised access to the platform or its systems;
- use automated systems (such as bots or scraping tools) without our prior written consent; or
- interfere with or disrupt the operation or security of the platform.
We may take action where reasonably necessary to protect the platform, including restricting or removing access.
5. User Accounts
You may be required to create an account to access certain features. You are responsible for:
- maintaining the confidentiality of your login details;
- all activity carried out under your account; and
- ensuring that all information you provide is accurate and up to date.
We may suspend or terminate accounts where reasonably necessary, including where these Terms are breached, where information provided is inaccurate or misleading, or where the account is used in a way that may harm the platform or other users.
6. Business Listings and Subscriptions
6.1 Listing Standards and Verification
Business users must ensure that all information provided in their listing is accurate, not misleading, and compliant with applicable laws and regulations.
We reserve the right to request supporting evidence for any claim made within a listing, including but not limited to qualifications, accreditations, and descriptions of services. We may suspend or remove a listing pending satisfactory verification. Failure to provide requested evidence within a reasonable timeframe may result in permanent removal of the listing without refund.
We reserve the right to review, refuse, remove, or amend listings where reasonably necessary, including to maintain the quality, integrity, or reputation of the platform.
6.2 Subscriptions and Payments
Where paid listings are offered, pricing and features will be clearly displayed at the point of purchase. Subscriptions run for the selected billing period and, unless stated otherwise, do not automatically renew. We reserve the right to introduce or amend pricing at any time, with reasonable notice to existing subscribers.
6.3 Cancellation and Cooling-Off Period
Consumer right to cancel: If you are a consumer, you have the right to cancel within 14 days of purchase under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013, unless the service has begun at your explicit request. If the service has started within this period, we may charge a proportionate amount for the service provided up to the point of cancellation.
After the cooling-off period, payments are non-refundable and cancellation will take effect at the end of the current billing period. If a subscriber requires a listing to be removed immediately, please contact us at hello@biznation.co.uk.
If a subscriber removes their listing within the 12-month subscription period, any reinstatement of that listing will be charged at the price rate of the original subscription.
Please note: Any hyperlinks to external websites included within paid-for subscriptions will be non-indexable. To add other types of hyperlinks, please contact us at hello@biznation.co.uk.
7. Content and Intellectual Property
7.1 Your Content
You retain ownership of any content you submit. By submitting content, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to use, reproduce, display, and distribute it for the purposes of operating, promoting, and improving the platform.
You confirm that:
- you have the right to provide the content;
- the content does not infringe the rights of others; and
- the content complies with applicable law.
"Content" means, but is not restricted to: drawings, photographs, logos, videos, audio files, graphics, and text.
7.2 Platform Content
All intellectual property rights in the platform, including branding, design, and content created by us, belong to Biz Nation or our licensors. You may not use our branding or materials without prior written permission.
8. Data Protection and Your Privacy Rights
8.1 How We Process Your Data
We process personal data in accordance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018. We rely on the following lawful bases:
- performance of a contract: to provide you with our services and manage your account;
- legal obligation: where required by law;
- legitimate interests: to improve our services, prevent fraud, and maintain platform security, where these interests are not overridden by your rights; and
- consent: where you have given us explicit consent, such as for direct marketing.
We retain personal data only for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes for which it was collected, including legal, regulatory, and operational requirements. Full details are set out in our Privacy Policy, available at biznation.co.uk/privacy-policy.
8.2 Your Data Protection Rights
Under the UK GDPR, you have the following rights in relation to your personal data:
- Right of access: to request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Right to rectification: to ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
- Right to erasure: to ask us to delete your personal data in certain circumstances (the 'right to be forgotten').
- Right to restriction of processing: to ask us to restrict how we process your data in certain circumstances.
- Right to data portability: to receive your personal data in a structured, commonly used, machine-readable format.
- Right to object: to object to our processing where we rely on legitimate interests as our lawful basis.
- Rights related to automated decision-making: not to be subject to a decision based solely on automated processing that produces legal or significant effects on you.
To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at hello@biznation.co.uk. We will respond within one month. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk or by calling 0303 123 1113.
9. Marketing Communications
We will only send marketing communications where you have given us your explicit consent to do so. You may withdraw consent at any time by emailing hello@biznation.co.uk or by clicking the unsubscribe link in any marketing email. Withdrawal of consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before that withdrawal.
Service-related communications (such as account or subscription notices) may still be sent where necessary, regardless of marketing preferences.
10. Cookies
Our website uses cookies to distinguish you from other users and to improve your experience. We will request your consent before placing any non-essential cookies on your device. For full details of the cookies we use and how to manage your preferences, please see our Cookie Policy, available at biznation.co.uk/cookie-policy.
11. Third-Party Businesses and User Responsibility
Biz Nation does not endorse or guarantee any business listed on the platform. Any agreement, transaction, or dispute between you and a listed business is solely between those parties. We are not responsible for the performance of any services, the accuracy of listings, or any loss or damage arising from interactions with listed businesses.
You acknowledge that it is your responsibility to independently verify the suitability, qualifications, and credentials of any business you choose to engage with through the platform. You should not rely solely on information presented on Biz Nation when making a decision to purchase goods or services from a listed business. We strongly recommend that you carry out your own due diligence before entering into any agreement with a third party found through the platform.
12. Suspension and Removal
We may suspend, restrict, or remove access to the platform where reasonably necessary, including where these Terms are breached, where content is misleading, unlawful, or harmful, or where user behaviour risks damaging the platform or other users. We aim to act proportionately and fairly in all such cases.
13. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify us against claims arising from your breach of these Terms, content you provide, or your infringement of any third-party rights. This clause does not affect your statutory rights as a consumer.
14. Limitation of Liability
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation.
Subject to the above, we are not liable for:
- loss of profits, revenue, or business;
- loss of data or goodwill;
- indirect or consequential loss; or
- any loss arising from reliance on the platform or its content.
Our total liability to you shall not exceed the total amount you have paid to us in the 12 months preceding the claim.
15. Disclaimer
The platform is provided "as is". We do not guarantee that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free, that content will be accurate or reliable, or that the platform will meet your specific requirements. You should not rely on the platform as a substitute for professional advice.
The platform may from time to time display search results, rankings, or suggested businesses generated by automated processes, including algorithmic or AI-assisted tools. Such outputs are provided for convenience only and do not constitute a recommendation, endorsement, or guarantee by Biz Nation. We accept no liability for any decision made in reliance on automated or algorithmically generated suggestions.
16. Links to Other Websites
The platform may contain links to third-party websites. We have no control over these sites and are not responsible for their content, practices, or privacy policies. You should review the terms and privacy policy of any third-party site you visit.
17. Complaints and Dispute Resolution
If you have a complaint, please contact us in the first instance at hello@biznation.co.uk. We will attempt to resolve all disputes promptly and fairly.
If we are unable to resolve a dispute directly, you may refer it to a certified Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) provider. We are not obliged to participate in ADR, but we are willing to consider it on a case-by-case basis.
You retain the right at all times to pursue claims through the courts of England and Wales.
18. Force Majeure
We are not liable for any failure or delay in performance caused by events beyond our reasonable control, including natural disasters, technical failures, acts of government, or changes in applicable law or regulation.
19. Entire Agreement
These Terms constitute the entire agreement between you and us regarding use of the platform. If any provision is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.
20. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. By using the website, you agree that any dispute shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
